Education and inspiration go hand in hand, and the launch of the new hairdressing agenda at Box Hill Institute fittingly came alongside an inspiring collection from the organisation’s educators. The collaborative photoshoot had Sharon Blain at the helm, leading a group of the Box Hill Institute educators in the creation of the Kabuki collection.
Multi-award winning make-up artist/hairdresser Sarah Laidlaw, fashion stylist Courtney Humphries, award winning fashion designer Tess Whitfort and fashion photographer Milos Mlynarik comprised the talented creative team.
“Strength, power and a nod to Japanese sensibility was the touch point for this collection,” Sharon said. “The hairstyles were inspired by the fashion by emerging designer Tess Whitfort who won the 2017 Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Emerging Student Designer Award whilst studying at Box Hill Institute. The hair combines powerful textures, tousled movement, amplified feminine beauty where the hair remains absolute. Each image sits perfectly as a collection, created to excite the artistic sense that is exaggerated and stylised.”
