Australian beauty professionals can gain access to “brands their competitors don’t have” and emerging trends at this year’s NZ Hair and Beauty Expo.
According to expo organiser Shaughan Woodcock, the biennial event is definitely not for locals only – and has distinct benefits for Australian salon owners and beauty wholesalers looking to grow their businesses.
“The NZ hair and beauty industry is fast embracing change,” he said. “The expo is an opportunity for Australian retailers to uncover trends clearly surfacing in a smaller market, before they go mainstream in a larger market. The expo also give retailers direct access to brands their competitors don’t have.”
To be held at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on July 13-14, the expo will feature 70 exhibitors including New Zealand brands such as Magpie Beauty, PhiAcademy New Zealand, Izabelle Hammon, Lashworx, OMG Beauty Solutions, Caithy Organics, Purebeau NZ and Natulique.
It will also feature a series of educational and entertaining talks including:
· How to become the best version of you: Lisa Conway
· The 7 most common mistakes salon owners make in business: Jay Chapman
· How stress is changing your skin: Gay Wardle
· Six keys to a winning and engaged team: Malcolm Gibbons
· Spray tans, profit and your salon: Matt Docherty
· Why commission-based incentives don’t work today and what does: Phil Gould
· Gut Instinct: the connection between your body, brain and the gut: Mikki Williden
However Woodcock stressed that salon owners are not the only ones who will benefit from making the short trip ‘across the ditch’ to attend the expo as it’s also “a great opportunity for Australian brands to connect directly with over 2700 New Zealand hair and beauty industry professionals”.
“Rather than painstakingly researching, vetting, and connecting over the phone to New Zealand’s retailers, Australian companies can get face-to-face with Kiwi hairdressers, beauty therapists, wax and tan professionals as well as tooth whitening and nail technicians with great potential ROI,” he said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to test the market with product as wholesalers can get feedback quickly, and at scale, from the movers and shakers who know the consumer here in New Zealand the best.”
He said 59 per cent of attendees at last year’s expo were owners or managers so “Australian exhibitors can feel confident they are connecting with decision-makers who are able to sign up for wholesale accounts on-stand (pending exhibitor reference requirements)”.
“Moreover, all exhibitors have access to a free lead scanning app to support lead generation and lead nurturing on their return to Australia.”
He concluded that “with Kiwi beauty influencers and beauty media in attendance”, the expo also presents an opportunity for Australian exhibitors “to drive NZ market awareness and make a real impact”.
