O&M ambassadors headed to the Byron Bay hinterland at the end of February to enjoy the 2024 iteration of the brand’s annual ambassador retreat, and we spoke to event organiser and the brand’s Marketing Events, PR and Partnerships leader, Luke Dean, about the unique gathering.
“The purpose of the retreat is to encourage our ambassadors to foster a sense of community and connection” he said. “It’s also a really great opportunity for us to talk about the business and provide updates on new product and brand initiatives. As a brand who truly heroes the hairdresser, we were really aiming to build equity in being a O&M ambassador and, of course, give all the ambassadors the opportunity to network with each other in person from different salons all over Australia.”
The event is focused on wellness for the mind, body and soul and its meals and activities are in line with our O&M brand values of ‘clean, kind and original’.
“On the first day we did a welcome, ranch tour and touched on the weekend’s program with a cacao and sound healing ceremony to finish off the evening,” Luke said. “We started each day with ice baths sauna and yoga.”
The retreat also highlighted ambassador feedback and involvement with debriefing sessions and surveys, where the brand listened to the community sharing their insights on O&M Pro and styling products. Product training included sessions on CØR.color, Clean.liquids and Lighteners, as well as previews for upcoming technologies and new product development.
The brand also invited external guest speakers including social media expert and hairdresser Sarah Emilia, and a TikTok expert. Guests also heard from O&M Global Brand Educator Gary Prigge and O&M founder Jose Bryce Smith.
Within this education and wellness mindset, the location of Sun Ranch in Byron Bay was the ideal environment to both learn and to be reinvigorated. The inimitable surrounds also offered the opportunity for full brand immersion with plenty of content opportunities.
“We look for somewhere that’s going to create excitement for everybody,” Luke shared. “Ambassadors are giving up time in salons to come away, we’re already looking at some exciting locations for 2025. We love to give back to the community that supports us, a thank you for being as part of the O&M ambassador family.”
