New opportunities for students of Box Hill Institute are well under way, with the new powerhouse team of Jane Trewin and Ruth Browne at the helm.
Certificate III in Hairdressing students are exercising their creativity and speedy session prowess in preparations for their Next Gen show at Hair Expo.
“The students are excited to be getting this backstage session experience that let’s them put their full artistic talents on show,” Head of Hairdressing, Ruth Browne said.
The surge in demand for barbers, has seen Box Hill Institute offer barbering in a new facility at the Box Hill Campus.
This hip barber shop will attract a great customer base for our students.
From July, graduates of the Cert 111 in Hairdressing will be able to work as qualified hairdressers in Singapore and London.
Ruth said that their qualification is now recognized in London and Singapore through ITEC, a UK-based organization that partners with educational institutions worldwide.
Industry partnerships are of vital importance to providing relevant training and opportunities to students.
“Experience in the workplace is essential for pre-trainees to gain a real-world understanding of working in a salon,” Ruth said. “Box Hill is commencing an industry mentored program in 2019 , the pilot salon group is Zucci Hairdressing, so watch this space!!”
The year started on a high for teachers of hairdressing who were mentored by two iconic ladies, the multi-award-winning legends , Sharon Blain and Sarah Laidlaw on a photo shoot which is now getting attention in print, on websites and in social media worldwide.
