Study Five Units to Become a Barber Too
Box Hill Institute offers qualified hairdressers the opportunity to become qualified barbers by completing only a further five units of study.
Head of Hairdressing, Ruth Browne said that hairdressers can upgrade their skills in scissor over comb work, tracking, fading and clippering.
“Doing the five units for a second qualification gives salon owners the chance to set up a barber corner in their salons or offer more specialized services for men.
“Hairdressers can add to their skill set, making themselves more employable or they could change to this burgeoning new sector,” she said.
The Certificate III in Barbering (SHB30516) is a relatively new qualification offered at Box Hill Institute’s Elgar and Lilydale campuses, which enables barbers to gain formal training including client consultation, retails sales and presentation, and haircutting and shaving.
